If you are having trouble uploading a file, there are a few things you can check for before giving us a call.
- Is the file name okay?
You may only use Letters, Numbers, Spaces, Hyphens and Underscores. Any other special characters or punctuation could stop you from being able to upload your file. If this is the case, just rename your file and try again. - Is the file too large?
Although the message on the FTP upload box says you can upload files of up to 5MB, there is a glitch that can make it so you can only upload files of size 4-4.5MB. If the file is bigger than that, try saving it as a reduced size PDF or ask us to upload it for you by emailing into support@visionict.com. - Does a file with the same name already exist in the destination folder?
If you are trying to re-upload a file then you need to change the name of the file before uploading it again. - What browser are you using?
Unfortunately, Chrome is the only browser that consistently supports uploading documents to our websites, other browsers seem to cause problems. Firefox has recently updated and this has made it so that you can't upload using this browser any more. If you want to carry on using Firefox, you can download Firefox Quantum from Mozilla.com. - Are you uploading a correct file format?
You can only upload Word, Excel and PDF's to your website, ODT and Mac Files are not supported. We recommend uploading in PDF as this is available for everyone to view and they generally have less issues that other formats (for example, certain older versions of word documents not being able to be opened now.)
If you are still unable to upload the document after checking all of these problems then please give us a call on 01392 669 497 or send the document into support@visionict.com
